The Copper Legion
This site describes my Warhammer 40K Army, gives you background about their creation, and answers any questions. Their creation was inspired by The Jungle web site, which showed me how to pull all of my junk into a viable fighting force!
Welcome to My Warhammer 40K Web Page!

Man, the Thousand Son Army is really hard to use in battle! The models are cool, though. I'm now dedicating my army to Undivided in order to use Slaanesh and Tzeentch together, and to use all of m models in one army.

Since I am pretty new at actually using any army in 40K, I am always open for suggestions on the army composition. Army lista are up.

I have broke it into 1000 pts, 1500 pts, and a large 2000 pt army.

Updates!
12/13/04: I actually made it to a Warhammer 40K tourney in Toledo this weekend and used my painted army to attack the forces of light!

4 games, 4 losses (strikingly familiar to the Lions)

1st game: The Copper legion (me) vs the Sisters of Battle (futuristic nuns with guns). This guy said 'Oh your new, I won't crush you then", and then crushed me. He also told me some wrong rules for my army and attempted to contest a perfectly legal set of rules for my army. Both involved my female daemonettes and their huge pincer claws...

Also, arcoflagellants are not nice in hand-to-hand combat :( Those electro whips hurt!

2nd games: Copper Legion vs Space Wolves (futuristic Viking space marines). I hardly remember anything about this game, except that I lost and the daemonettes chewed their way through a couple squads of space wolves.

3rd game: Copper Legion vs. Grey Knights (space marine daemon hunters). I learned in this game that psycannons hurt, and that daemons fall quickly to daemon hunters, but get to come back on to the board. I also forgot to move some of my units during one turn. Oh, yeah, I lost ;)

4th game: Copper Legion vs Dark Angels (space marine mystics with lots of firepower). My opponent owned the store, and easily crushed me. He also got mad when he learned that people had told me some of the rules wrong in earlier games.

Even with 4 losses, I still won 'Best Painted Army', and received $20.00 store credit. I bought some Judge Dredd comics and a couple of minis.

7/21/04: Numerous new army pictures up on the army page. New land raider, daemons, dreadnought, noise marines, havocs, and Thousand Sons. Also a Shotti

6/17/04: Defiler almost done. Picts coming soon. Main wiring and paint job done, deltails not done. I going to try and put up a page of the model's creation soon.

6/07/04: Tried to get a game going on at the Game Room, but nobody was there to battle...

5/02/04: Land Raider model done, inside and out. This is another project I need to get online soon.

3/07/04: Finally! After heading over to the Game Room a couple of times and having nobody to battle, I finally squeezed a game in. My opponent was (of couse) the Dark Angels again! And I lost again! I have to keep my record going, you know. I guess I really need to remember to move across to board when I have a chance.... :(

1/15/03: Holidays Smack Down Gaming!
I really need to get in a game. I attempted to play during the beginning of December, but there were no players available at the time. I blame the holidays...

11/22/03: Eighth Game: Dark Angels
A weekend battle report from JB
A second game of leage play. Due to the Michigan-Ohio State game, there were not too many people at the Game Room this Saturday, so I played the owner of the store. His force consisted of a Gran Master, 2 speeders with meltas, scouts, termies, 2 regular squads w/ extras, a plasma squad, a havok, and another armored vehicle that I don't know the name of. I used my 2000 pt list with the damon prince Mallus.
Normal planetary conditions, with 'take quarters' as the goal. I went first, and I sped my personel carrier into the line of fire to help block line-of-sight to the rest of my troops, who were having difficulty with the terrain. My predator and drednought took some pot-shots. During his turn, he missed with every shot.
Turn 2: I moved closer with most of my army. My troops leaped out of the vehicle and assaulted the plaama squad. My opponent killed a thrall wizard, and my predator was smoked by a glancing hit. My dred was also imobilized.
Turn 3. Daemon prince gets into range and starts killing. My troops slowly slogg across the battle, and summoned so pink horrors. The horrors take out one of the land speeders. The assault on the plasma squad keeps them tied up as my opponent adds more troops to the fray. Some of my troops begin to die. The price's bodyguards take some plasma/melta/missle hits for him.
Turn 4: His HQ and termies arrive on the battle and the massive carnage of my forces begnis. I also am able to get the blue horrors onto the field, but my troops are moving way too slow. My opponent takes the initiative and plunges his troops into assault. I keep the prince away from the Grand Master, and let him kill daemons instead. My drednought keeps firing away at a flank troop. I can see the end game at this point.
Turn 5+6: More of the same from turn 4. My troops are whittled down by thunderhammers, missles, and powerfists, which care not about 2 wounds. The daemon prince is assaulted by scouts, in order to keep him away from the plasma squad.

Final: Opponent held 2 quarters, I held one. He had ~1000 pts left, I had ~600. I felt pretty good about this game, and I think that I am getting the hang of the tactical side of the game.

10/06/03: Seventh Game: Craftworld Eldar
Another weekend battle report from JB.

Once again, I launched my Copper Legion into the fray. This time I have joined a league to help get my game going.
Instead of the 'Line up and battle' approach, the battles in the league have randon terrain, gravity, time of day, army placements, and sealed objectives.

My opponent rolled for most of the randomness and got: Open field with scattered debris on a normal gravity planet at dusk.

His army was composed of the Eldar (Space Elves), and was 'min/maxed' for deadly effect. He had six sqads of five elves each. Each squad had a missle launcher and a star cannon and could fire across the entire board without having to move, twice. He also had two war walkers and a wraith lord, along with two nasty HQ characters.

He reacted with glee at the random roll-up of the planet.

The battle did not go too well (for me). My army, composed of animated suits of armor, trudged slowly across the open plain, and it was a shooting gallery. My daemon prince attempted to leap ahead into the fray to turn the tide but, three handfulls of dice later had penetraded his daemonic armor and thwarted his prescience.

By turn three my opponent was almost dancing on the table with joy, as the last of my daemons were destroyed.

Other people at the game shop made fun of his army, calling it cheesy, beardy, unsportsman-like, etc.
The quote I remember is one kid holding up his hand like a clipboard and pretending to be a referee said "Sportsmanship Score: Zero!"
Pat, my opponenet said "Hey, I'm not entering a tournament, I'm only playing you guys!"

Anyways, in the end I killed his wraithlord and a few of the lesser guys.
I did gain much honor from the battle and the 'coolness factor' of my army.
9/22/03: Sixth game: Dark Angels. These guys also have some firepower, but with my new Daemon Prince and chosen, they didn't have a chance! I kept my force tightly grouped, with the pred and dred at the back, the DP in the middle and troops on the three other sides. The Dark Angels (foolishly) spread his army out along his edge, making easy to punch into the flank and sweep up the side.

Lesson from battle: I need more heavy firepower, I think. Maybe replace doombolt with another, heavier spell? Maybe its just because my predator was blown up by ordinance in turn 1?

Quote of the game "Your Daemon Prince is unstoppable! How can he survive 5 plasma cannon shots?" My reply "Umm, he's a daemon prince?"

8/15/03: Now with five games under my belt, I have revamped my points list to 2000 pts and added a daemon prince with a chosen retinue. There is a new picture of my chosen here on the web site, but no picture of the prince as of yet. I am waiting until he is totally finished before posting.
So far four of my battles have been against the Space Wolves. Ouch! These guys are serious about cool wargear. Three power fists? Some weird charm thingy that negates a wound? Must fight fire with fire, I guess.
Also, note to self: If you pay for wargear, remember to use it! (such as eye of tz., and spiky bits

7/10/03: Added request page with photos. Added the pipe organ page that details my scratch-built vehicle model.

7/4/03: New rino picts added!

5/27/03: Begining army pictures loaded...

5/19/03: Just started this website, but I'll be updating it soon with all manner of pictures and ideas concerning my 40K army.
Note: Some links, etc. may lead to very strange places. Such is the nature of chaos.

BFG: Battleship Ray of Truth

I find that BFG works well with my overall ideas of the 40K universe. I have a small chaos force painted up, and soon I will be uploading picts of all of the ships.
